The Best Surf Spots in Morocco

Morocco concentrates its waves on the Atlantic coast around Agadir. From famous Taghazout to the quiet beaches of the south — the spots that matter.

Morocco's best surf spots lie on the Atlantic coast, between Essaouira and Sidi Ifni, with a high density around Agadir. Here you will find world-famous waves as well as beaches that have stayed quiet further south.

The Best-Known Spots, North of Agadir

Taghazout is the reference, 45 minutes from Agadir: long, even waves that peel far and clean — and accordingly plenty of crowds. Around it — Tamraght, Imsouane with its endless wave — the same picture: excellent, but well visited.

The Quieter Spots in the South

Head south and the coast empties out. Around Mirleft, Aglou and Sidi Ifni the same Atlantic swell runs onto beaches where you can count the surfers on one hand.

  • Taghazout — the star, world-class waves, but crowded.
  • Imsouane — one of the longest waves in the country, a relaxed atmosphere.
  • Essaouira — more wind and kitesurfing, for lovers of the town.
  • Mirleft & Sidi Ifni — the quiet south, ideal for progressing in peace.

Which One Should You Choose?

For learning or catching your breath away from the crowd: the south. For the big winter days and the buzz: north of Agadir. Many do both — the coast is easy to drive along by car.

We deliberately placed our surf camp in the south, in Mirleft — because here it is still quiet in the morning, before the first wave comes. If this coast speaks to you, surf it with us: Westklippe.
